Stop the Insanity....

            Rose Hips
the photo has nothing to do with this post other than having the colors red and green

 to jump on
 Suldog's bandwagon
 because of something that
happened this week, believe it or
not, we received a Christmas card
 on October 25th
pretty ridiculous, huh? it didn't come from
a company trying to earn our business but from a family
member. anyone who knows me will obviously figure out
that it did not come from
someone in my family but that's all i will say on that matter
so now we have a Christmas card
that will be on display for the next two months because that's
what happens when one receives a Christmas card, no?
all other cards have a shelf life of what ~ two or three weeks tops?
how can one toss a Christmas card out before the holiday actually arrives?
the insanity must stop or we'll be
finding ourselves receiving Christmas cards all year round in years to come
and then it will be presents arriving in the mail in June and standing in the ever
dreaded return lines. so if you can sympathize with this
growing epidemic please visit Suldog and tell him Jillsy Girl sent you

River of Dreams

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night

 ~ Billy Joel ~

I Can Hear You Now....

a low ceiling blankets the hillside
rain pelting the windshield
a nasty morning it was
but reaching it's head out
above it all
i could almost hear the question....

can you hear you now?

so what's your "passion"?

Autumn Serenity

Yesterday we took, what might end up being, the last lake cruise of the season.  It was a glorious day and practically no one was on the lake.  We tootled to one of our favorite locations which is still undeveloped and gives the feel of a nature preserve.  It is here that we've seen blue herons and egrets throughout the summer, but yesterday it was totally still with the exception of crickets chirping and the occasional butterfly to pass by.  That was, until we heard a racket high up in the trees to later see several crows emerge chasing a hawk.  I did get some photos, but they were too far off for my zoom lens to do any justice.  Other than that one clatter, it was perfect serenity. We anchored, ate a picnic lunch and played a game of cards.   At one point, another boater passed by on a kayak to also enjoy the splendor of this remote portion of the lake.  The trickling of the water off his oars just added to the tranquility.

We watched him continue on until, off in the distance,
he stopped behind some lake grass and soaked in the silence as well.

One Word Wednesday ~ Gold

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold,
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Robert Frost

the above tree is one of the most magnificent I've seen in Autumn
this photo was taken last Fall
 because here in the South
the colors are still not at their prime.

please join in and share your golden thoughts with us
by adding  a post of your own, below

Thank you Barbara @ Long Hollow & Long Hollow Photography

the word

can't wait to see your posts!

the air whips
on delicate blades of grass
the sun's rays glisten

the wind whispers
as it passes
in long quick steps

come with me
it says
as it walks on

the blades kick back
mother nature letting go

at ease

another step
grabs hold
and pulls

come again with me

then another quick release

w i n d s w e p t

are you thinking "gold" for tomorrow?

Mosaic Monday ~ Busy as a Bee

the wind whipped
the flowers violently swayed
but this little bee
was determined
holding tight
 not letting go
he found
what he was looking for
and was having the ride of his life!

Here's Looking at You Kid....

hey joe...who's that crazy lady down there mooing at us?
i dunno, she's been here before
i never get to see her face, though
she's always hiding behind something
i think she just wants us to look at her
she'll leave soon....
she's harmless

So There!

It went down like this.....

Entrance to pumpkin patch

Me:  Can I take a couple of pictures?

Money Taker:  $3.00

Me:  What?

Money Taker:  $3.00

Me:  Really??

Money Taker:  Yes

Me:  Why?

Money Taker:  What boss says

Me:  Can I stand outside the fence and take a couple of photos?

Money Taker:  $3.00

Me:  You've gotta be joking!

Money Taker:  You can talk to boss.

Me:  walked down the fence line to backside of a shed and snapped away for free.....

i guess these photogs paid the $3.00

One Word Wednesday ~ Sweet

last week
when i realized
 at the very last moment
i had not asked someone to select this week's word
i decided to go to the boob tube
and wait for some word to be spoken
that could possibly be interesting for this week's challenge

it just so happened
a commercial was playing
(oddly enough)
and the word "sweet" was blurted out almost immediately
(who would have guessed?)

i definitely have a sweet tooth
and considering i'm probably one of the world's greatest cookie lovers to walk the planet
(Girl Scouts love me)
there couldn't have been an easier word for me this week

the cookie jar in our home
is NEVER empty

have fun and see you next Wednesday!

beyond that bend....

what awaits
beyond that bend?

criss cross
like a spider
in a tattered web
to strike
and pull its prey in

into a maze
of twists
and turns

dead ends

which way?

the ear of corn
stepped on
kicked to the side

look up...

 sun is setting
shadows lengthen
halls darken

is there a way out?

time is ticking
one hour
eleven minutes

there must be a way

in the distance

open space

big sigh

let's do it again!

i've added a new page up above
Sure to Please
make sure to check it out!

are you ready for "sweet" tomorrow?

Mosaic Monday ~ Monarch Butterfly

what a surprise it was
to look out my office window
and see a Monarch feasting on our butterfly bush!

i grabbed Nik
(thank goodness he was back home!)
and flew out the door

this is the first and only Monarch
i ever remember seeing in our backyard

and what a stunning butterfly it is!

The Gang's All Here....

one of my all-time favorite Paul McCartney songs

I think the guy on the left
was wanting some "me" time
but the whole gang showed up
and ruined it.

Have a great weekend!
